GREAT STIRRUP CAY

Rich and I played SHUFFLE BOARD 3 times and each time I won!  It was close each time though and I only got lucky that's all...it sure was fun.
More relaxing and reading on the deck where they had a big chess board.

Tender boats take all the people as well as our food for the BBQ lunch they cooked up for us!

Tender boats take us from the ship directly to the beach of their private owned Island.

 This is the life!!!

Charise says, "HEY see these pruney hands, it's GREAT!"

It was beautiful water, but REALLY windy!  It didn't stop us from doing a lot of snorkeling though!

Norwegian's Private Island, Great Stirrup Cay with their Pearl ship in the background!

Our last night on the ship, Saturday, October 23rd, we celebrated Rich's birthday at their expensive restaurant, Cagney's Steakhouse up on the top 13th floor.  It was not worth the price, but oh well!

3rd stop...TORTOLA, British Virgin Islands

 WELCOME to TORTOLA...

Brewsters Bay

Tortola had just had a huge amount of rain and because of the storm, the water was VERY murky.  Richard went out really far into the bay and found it a lot more clear but I just enjoyed reading and sleeping on the beach the rest of the time.  Rich saw some moray eels here!

Charise looked up and saw the palm trees and felt the most relaxed she's felt in a long time!

Rich in front of the back of the Norwegian Pearl cruise ship...goodbye TORTOLA!

2nd stop...ST. THOMAS U.S. Virgin Islands

View from the ship as we pulled into the harbor

We got off the ship and decided to get a taxi to Sapphire Beach because it was a couple of dollars cheaper, but we met another couple, Karen and Curtis, on the open taxi bus and they said they were going to Coki Beach which is the most popular and best for snorkeling.  So, we decided to go where they were going and it was GREAT!

We rented an umbrella and chairs and bought 6 doggie biscuits for $1 to feed the fish...they really LOVED those doggie snacks as you can see!
This is what I really wanted to do...RELAX and READ my books!

FISH and MORE fish!!!

These scuba divers were just learning in the shallow waters...

Charise feeds the fish...

ALERT!!!  Someone's chicken has gotten loose and is on the run!
This random chicken was meandering around our chairs.
I think he wanted the doggie biscuits that were in my bag...

Do you see the crab???
Richard bought this thin wet suit right before our trip.

Norweigian Pearl's Rock-Climbing Wall

Richard vertually FLIES up the middle section of the wall which was the hardest...

Charise takes the EASY side which is just perfect ...see my RED, FRIED and sore legs?!

Eastern Caribbean Cruise

Dancers (just for show) greeting the cruise ships
Here is our driver in Samana and some local kids
Rich kayaking
Charise had only her swim suit on and forgot to put sunblock on and so she got SOOOOO burned on her legs!  We were out there on the kayak for a couple of hours if you can imagine just how red I looked!  Now I have freckles on my shins because of the burn and blisters and then peeling!
Here you can see in the distance the beach where we rented the kayak (for $10) and dropped off our stuff while we snorkeled.  The snorkeling wasn't that great, but we saw many pretty starfish and picked up some as well.
We saw many starfish as we ocean kayaked around the shoreline.
Our 1st destination was Tuesday, October 19th in SAMANA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.  We came off the boat and hired a taxi driver on a motor scooter to drive us to a nice beach where we could rent a kayak and perhaps do some snorkeling because we brought our snorkel gear along.
Here is Rich in our outside cabin with a cute porthole window!
We left for our cruise on Rich's birthday, October 16th, 2010.  My father dropped us off at the Salt Lake City Airport at about 10:00 p.m because they drove up from St. George, Utah to watch our 5 kids for us.  They have been gone for the past 18 months on a mission to Beira, Mozembique, Africa, so they needed some time with the grandkids...they missed the birth of Luke last year.
Our Eastern Caribbean cruise was partly in celebration of Richards 40th birthday, and partly for a much needed break from the kids and deadlines!  It also was financially affordable because of our airline miles (we paid $10 each in  taxes only plus $150 because of Rich's accidently booked flight on the wrong date).  It was a great deal on the Norweigan Cruise Line as well except we wanted an unobstructed oceanview instead of our usual inside cabin on our previous cruises to Greece and Mexico.  So, we paid $1,600 for both tickets!  We also had $100 onboard credit which we used for our special dinner at Cagney's Steakhouse ($50) on the last night and tips.  We had to pay a total of $12/person per day for tips!  It was a GREAT and RELAXING cruise with great entertainment and rooms.  I was not impressed with the food though.  Princess Cruise Line had a lot better food choices in my opinion!  Overall though, it was a worthwhile trip for rejuvenating our spirits and will hopefully sustain us until another vacation is needed ;)

Relief Society General Broadcast

Saturday, September 25th
My High School friend, Megan Green Walburger and I went out to a Greek Express place for an early dinner about 3 p.m. and then sat and chatted for a couple of hours before going to the Broadcast. After the Conference, we decided we wanted to gab somemore, so we went to Baskin Robbins for some ice cream and I didn't get home until after 9:00 p.m. It was a lot of fun catching up with Megan and I hope now that she lives nearby we'll do more together! She married a Canadian, Derrek and has been living up in Alberta for many years until just this year when they moved to Utah. YEAH!

Grandma/Grandpa's gift to Luke!
YUMMMMMMM............
Luke turned ONE years old on September 19, 2009 when we were on our way home from our California vacation, so we celebrated at my parents home with a couple of gifts and cake/ice cream. It was simple but nice. Luke got some cute Reebox Tennis Shoes from us that light up when he walks and a cute talking Teddy Bear from his Grandma/Grandpa Nebeker. THANKS for the present Mom/Dad...it was so cute Aleah wanted to have it!

Aleah's Preschool Starts...

Aleah goes to her KNOWLTON ELEMENTARY Preschool Classroom on Wednesday, September 8, 2010. This Preschool is supposed to be one of the best and usually has a very long waiting list. Because Aleah is Developmentally Delayed, she will need extra attention including a Speech Therapist coming to work with her. She attends Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-11:30 a.m. Her teachers are Ms. Chris, Ms. Jessie, and Ms. Anne. She LOVES it!

CALIFORNIA TRIP

Friday, September 10th Our vacation started about dinner time when we drove down to St. George, Utah to visit the family. My parents just came home from their 18 month mission to Beira, Mozembique, Africa on September 7th. We really missed them so we stopped off for that weekend to spend some quality time together. The kids were WAY excited! From there, we took off on Monday morning for Southern CA. I was able to get a 3 night stay at the Neport Coast Villas owned by Marriott for only $250!!! We checked in about 4 p.m. to our Villa complete with a nice kitchen, 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms, dining room and family room! It was ideal for our family of 7! After getting moved in, we got dressed in our swimming stuff and took a look around the place which had 4 pools, basketball court, arcade room, kids playground and a kids activity center. Our condo was in the same building as the King Triton's Cove Activity Center (just next door practically) We then took the free shuttle service to Crystal Cove Beach where we played in the sand, explored and found some cute hermit crabs, played in the surf, etc. If we stayed longer, we would have had some fun there, but we were going to busy the next few days.
 Crystal Cove
Hermit Crab we played with!
" Did Aleah do that to you Jake???"
"Ok, who burried Mr. Q?!!"
Aleah LOVES the sand! She was definately in HEAVEN!

Luke thought the sand and seaweed was food!

Dad had fun playing with the hermit crabs too!

Qaiden

The next morning after a big breakfast of French Toast/fruit, and making peanut butter/jelly sandwhiches, apples, chips, etc., we drove up to Anaheim, CA to pick up our cheap 2 day hopper passes ($105/person, $55/me because I had a "Give A Day, Get A Day" for doing service which I actually couldn't attend but they gave me a free day nonetheless!) After picking them up, we parked a car ($15/day!) and took the trolley trains to the entrance!
Entrance to Disneyland's security check...
Boys at "Autopia" waiting to drive their car!
The Matterhorn Bobsleds ride...was one of the kids' favorites at Disneyland.
Poor Luke had to be in the stroller much of the time!

We did Disneyland on Tuesday, September 14th. I forgot to charge my camera so I didn't get many pictures that first day...darn!!! I did get some the next few days though. Well, after our first FULL day at Disneyland, we didn't get home until about 9 p.m. and then I made some yummy mexican tacos. It made for a late dinner, but was nice and satisfying. We slept VERY well after such a LONG day of walking and having fun.
September 15th-We slept in until about 8 a.m. and Richard and I had to attend a seminar where Marriott Vacations talked to us about buying a share of their Resorts all over the world. That's why we were able to get such a GREAT deal on this Villa. After that, we drove to Disneyland and got there about 11:30 a.m. and decided to do California Adventure. The kids' favorite ride was the Tower of Terror! That evening for dinner, we ate at Denny's nearby.

"California, here I come..."
Group Hug with the Brother Bears of the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. The Bears came out and tried to give Aleah a hug and she was SOOO scared and would NOT get close to them...it was pretty funny! She sure is happy in the next picture though...after they left!

There's mom and the three older kids! I liked this ride but I got soaked!
This ride was for the kiddos...Aleah had fun!

This was their FAVORITE ride...TOWER OR TERROR!!! It made me a little nausiated for the next couple of hours! Once was enough for me!

Cool GREEN G.I Joe guys!
Late dinner at Denny's Restaurant- The GIRLS...
The BOYS...we were pretty tired here.
Thursday, September 16th was our free day to leisurely drive down to Oceanside and to our Comfort Suites Inn. We couldn't check in till 2 p.m., so we drove further south to San Diego and decided to go to the New Children's Museum. It was only $35 for all of us to spend the day having fun and being educated.
New Children's Museum of San Diego
Bouncing FUN in the tube!
Arts and Crafts for the girls
Can you tell he's an ENGINEER? Luke's just like his daddy I think!
This was a RAIN HOUSE...it sounded as if rain were pouring down on your roof and birds were chirrping. It was really cool when you went inside. It sounded so real!
 TROJAN HORSE
Rachael and Aleah are hiding, can you see them inside?
Dress-up time with a CAMERA videotaping you and replaying it for you to enjoy watching.
The kids liked watching themselves on screen!
Our kids are so muscial!
Pump Bikes! They worked too...WAY COOL!
I was so proud of Aleah because she could even work them and pump across the room!

Qaiden got in trouble for pumping his down the hall instead of staying on the track!
Cute Birdie Aleah!
The kids made animals out of toilet paper rolls and Kazoo's out of straws...
After a fun-filled afternoon of imagination and creativity, we left about 2 p.m. to go get subway sandwhiches and then drove back to our hotel to get checked in. We had dinner of Rotisserie Chicken, 2 bags of bagged salad/dressing mixes, Hawaiian Sweet Rolls and fruit. It was a delicious dinner for under $15 as opposed to over $50 at Denny's the night before! I LOVE CHEAP things! That night, we relaxed in our hotel room and watched the Redbox $1 movie called, Prince of Persia.

Friday, September 17th was our trip down to Sea World. It was a TON of fun! I loved it even better than Disneyland/California Adventure. The kids' favorites were the rides of course and petting the sting rays. Rachael LOVED the Dolphin show as well. Here are some photos of our fun! This was the last day of our vacation to California and it was certainly the highlight!
Qaiden and the Walrus!
Fun ride, but DON'T sit in the front or you'll get SOAKED!!
Porpoises
Dolphin Show...REALLY neat!

There were 2 black whales and MAN can they SOAK you...yep, we were in the SOAK ZONE and we got a TON of salt water dumped on us. Aleah was asleep in my arms and when that water dumped on us, she was so startled that she started to cry. It was pretty funny!!!
"SOAK ZONE" here we are!
Pink Flamingos
We paid $12 for 2 trays of 5 fish each to feed the SEALIONS. It was pretty cool, except a dumb bird took one of my fish and took one of Rachael's fish!

I put a starfish upside down in the water waiting for the kids to come off a ride, and it took 10 minutes to flip itself around...it was pretty cool to see how they did it!
Killer Whale SHAMU got us a little wet...those in front of us got it worse!

We LOVED petting the Sting Rays...they were cool!

Funny Kid Moments!

December 20, 2011- We were all in the kitchen making gingerbread and I had just taken out the first batch of the gingerbread boy and girl. As I attempted to scrape up the girl on the spatula, she was too soft and started to fall apart as I quickly placed the mangled mess on the brown paper bag! Qaiden pointed to the messed up cookie and said, "Ladies first!" and "Mom killed her!" It was just so funny I changed from being really upset that I had ruined the cookie to laughing so hard at the random funny comment! I keep telling the boys, "Ladies first", and I guess it is sinking in!

November 2011- I like to recycle plastic containers and so I had just washed out one of them and placed the plastic lid on top the toaster (near the sink) to dry. Jacob went to put some bread in the toaster and while in there, the lid melted! Just a little while later as I was getting dinner prepared, Qaiden sat on the stove counter right next to the hot stove top. I told Q to get down off the counter but he was slow to obey. I had turned off the stove, but one of the burners was still hot and so as Q sat there, his coat was lying on the still hot burner and his inner part of the coat melted. I was a bit angry with him for not being obedient and was pretty frustrated. At this point, I turned to the boys and said, "Ok, and the winner for the 'NO-BRAINER' award goes to...drum roll please...QAIDEN!" I changed from being angry to laughing because of how funny my own comment seemed to me! ;) (Sometimes you just gotta laugh at yourself!)So, whenever we do something stupidly funny, we call it the NO-BRAINER award! It's become quite funny to see some of the silly things we do each day!

May 25, 2010- As the kids got ready for school this morning, I asked Rachael if she remembered to get a leotard for Gymnastics today after school. Qaiden overheard and said "...it's NOT Aleah-tard, it's a Rachael-tard! And I would wear a Qaiden-tard!" Ohhhh the silly things that kids come up with!

Jan 20, 2010- I was in the middle of winding the cord of our kirby vacuum cleaner while singing 'Ring around the rosies a pocket full of posies, ashes, ashes we all fall down'...and Aleah just standing there all the sudden dropped to her bottom without bending her knees (looked a little awkward). It was just one of those moments that made me laugh because it was so unexpected!
