Our Family's Mission Statement
May 10, 2010 For Family Home Evening (FHE) this Monday, we got together and decided to create our Cooley Family Mission Statement. This would help encourage each one of us to be a little better! So, each of the kids came up with the statements I later that week painted on a piece of wood. I then had each of them design their own stick-person from a vinyl lettering website. They had fun doing that and when we got those in the mail the following week, we hung our FMS on our wall (May 17). Some of the statements are things like, The Cooley's Never Steal, Always love others, Never go to bed angry, Always have fun, Never goes to bed angry, Never give up, Never leaves food on their plate...you get what you get and you don't throw a fit, etc...

May 22nd at 11:00 a.m. was my sister, Shelley's babyshower which was hosted by myself but held at my Aunt Jolyn's house in American Fork, Utah. There were a couple dozen family and friends there and we all had fun visiting and playing a few games. The first game was; Guess the Size of Mom's Belly? in which they had to cut the yarn to the size they thought Shelley's belly was. The winner was Kristin Atwood and she won a bag of Jelly Belly's- jelly beans. My other cousin, Trinna Adams got there late but she was also very close so she got a box of Sour Patch Kids- gummy candy. Everyone was given a box of Sugar Babies as well as a permanent marker and a Newborn Diaper in which they had to write down a bit of advice for Shelley so when she pulled out a diaper, she would be inspired that day! Throughout the babyshower, whoever said the word; BABY or BABIES had to give one of their Sugar Babies to the person that caught them saying it. Just for the record, I did not do so hot at that game! It was my sister, Chantel's idea to play that one, not mine! ;) The other game we played was; Guess What's In the Blanket? There were 19 items in the blanket, and they only had 20 seconds to look and after it was taken away, they only had a minute to write down what they remember seeing inside. We had a 3-way tie...Meredith Villalba, Kristy Atwood and Heather Woolley won and received a box of Sour Patch Kids each. After playing the games, Shelley opened each of her gifts and the person that gave her a gift, shared their bit of advice that they had written on the diaper. It was a very nice babyshower overall. For refreshments, we had a 7-layer bean-dip, lemon bars (2 different kinds), oatmeal, chocolate chip, coconut cookies, fruit with dip, and pink lemonade! Everyone gobbled down the food and Shelley's sister-in-laws, mother-in-law, and friend helped bring chips, drinks, fruit, etc. Thanks to all those that helped including my sister, Cheryl who helped me prepare the lemon bars and helped get things ready for the shower! Shelley got many cute outfits for her baby boy as well as some handy things to use when the baby is born. She doesn't look like she's very big does she??? Well, she is due the first part of July which is coming up in just over a month! Goodluck Shelley!!

Regional Conference
(Conference Center seats about 21,000 people!)
May 2nd, 2010...Our Stake Conference was part of a Regional Conference that was held down in Salt Lake City's LDS Conference Center in which over 60 Stakes participated from the Northern part of Utah. We left our house at 8:30 a.m so we could be there in plenty of time to get some decent seats. We were able to sit in the Plaza section on ground level. It started at 10:00 a.m. and ended by noon. President Henry B. Erying, Elder Robert D. Hales, Julie B. Beck, and Donald A. Rasband spoke to us. Much was said about being worthy to go to the Temple and Sister Beck talked a lot on the role of mothers and that we need to prioritize our lives better so we can we great mothers in Zion. Pres. Eyring talked a lot about Zion and making sure we listen to the revelation we receive from the Spirit. He told us that our #1 priority is FAMILY... they were all great talks even though Qaiden was very irreverent, Aleah was antsy, and Luke was fussy! That's just the way it goes when we have little ones! At least we got something out of it, right?! We parked near Shelley and Paul's Brigham Apt's (using a coin she gave me) and even though near, we didn't get home until 1:15 p.m....over an hour after it was over! Rich said that was his 1st time in the CC, and it was also the LAST time he attends...TOO busy/hectic for him!!!
Our little SMURF!!!
This is the LOVELY Smurfette in the flesh...
LUKE CRAWLS NOW!
Just a couple of weeks ago Luke started crawling! He is getting around pretty well. His favorite things to get into is the green Libman mop...which he enjoys sucking on the bristles. He also loves sucking on the tassles of my Greek rug in the hallway! I don't know why???? What can I say except I have children with odd tendencies! He is the cutest little boy though...!
Funny Kid Moments!
December 20, 2011- We were all in the kitchen making gingerbread and I had just taken out the first batch of the gingerbread boy and girl. As I attempted to scrape up the girl on the spatula, she was too soft and started to fall apart as I quickly placed the mangled mess on the brown paper bag! Qaiden pointed to the messed up cookie and said, "Ladies first!" and "Mom killed her!" It was just so funny I changed from being really upset that I had ruined the cookie to laughing so hard at the random funny comment! I keep telling the boys, "Ladies first", and I guess it is sinking in!
November 2011- I like to recycle plastic containers and so I had just washed out one of them and placed the plastic lid on top the toaster (near the sink) to dry. Jacob went to put some bread in the toaster and while in there, the lid melted! Just a little while later as I was getting dinner prepared, Qaiden sat on the stove counter right next to the hot stove top. I told Q to get down off the counter but he was slow to obey. I had turned off the stove, but one of the burners was still hot and so as Q sat there, his coat was lying on the still hot burner and his inner part of the coat melted. I was a bit angry with him for not being obedient and was pretty frustrated. At this point, I turned to the boys and said, "Ok, and the winner for the 'NO-BRAINER' award goes to...drum roll please...QAIDEN!" I changed from being angry to laughing because of how funny my own comment seemed to me! ;) (Sometimes you just gotta laugh at yourself!)So, whenever we do something stupidly funny, we call it the NO-BRAINER award! It's become quite funny to see some of the silly things we do each day!
May 25, 2010- As the kids got ready for school this morning, I asked Rachael if she remembered to get a leotard for Gymnastics today after school. Qaiden overheard and said "...it's NOT Aleah-tard, it's a Rachael-tard! And I would wear a Qaiden-tard!" Ohhhh the silly things that kids come up with!
Jan 20, 2010- I was in the middle of winding the cord of our kirby vacuum cleaner while singing 'Ring around the rosies a pocket full of posies, ashes, ashes we all fall down'...and Aleah just standing there all the sudden dropped to her bottom without bending her knees (looked a little awkward). It was just one of those moments that made me laugh because it was so unexpected!
